FAQs
Problem-Solving FAQs for Tattoo Removal
How long has Winter Park Tattoo Removal been in business?
We've been serving clients since 2004 over 20 years of experience in laser tattoo removal. We're Florida's longest-established tattoo removal clinic and have been voted best in Orlando for 7 consecutive years.
What makes Winter Park Tattoo removal different from other clinics?
We combine the 2-Joule high-powered laser system (the highest energy available commercially) with board-certified physician supervision for medical-grade safety. We've served our 1000+ customers and they rate us 4.9+ stars, making us Florida's top-rated tattoo removal clinic and voted best in Orlando for 7 consecutive years.
Do I need an appointment or can I walk in?
We recommend scheduling an appointment to ensure personalized attention from our specialists. However, we may accommodate walk-ins when possible.
We offer free consultations with a $25 refundable fee. Our experts will guide you through the complete tattoo removal process, evaluate your tattoo, discuss your goals, and create a personalized treatment plan. Call (407) 622-2252 to book your appointment or free consultation.
Do you offer pain-free tattoo removal options?
Yes! We understand comfort is important. We offer:
- PFD Patch for near pain-free treatment
- Lidocaine (topical numbing)
- Blister-free laser option
Tell us during your consultation about your pain tolerance, and we'll create a comfortable treatment plan.
Can you remove all types of tattoos?
We can remove black ink from all skin types successfully. For colored ink, most colors respond well, but we cannot safely remove colored ink from Fitzpatrick skin types 5-6 (darker skin tones) in some cases. During your consultation, we'll assess your tattoo and skin type to determine the best approach.
How far apart should treatment sessions be?
Sessions should be spaced 6-8 weeks apart to allow your skin to heal properly and your body to eliminate broken-down ink particles. Spacing sessions too close together increases scarring risk and reduces effectiveness.
Is laser tattoo removal painful?
Most people describe it as similar to being snapped with a rubber band or getting a sunburn. However, we offer pain management options including the PFD Patch and Lidocaine to maximize comfort. Most treatments require no anesthesia or downtime.
What aftercare is required following treatment?
Proper aftercare is critical for optimal results:
- Keep the area clean with mild soap and lukewarm water
- Apply antibiotic ointment as directed
- Avoid sun exposure and use mineral sunscreen (SPF 30+)
- Do NOT pick, scratch, or pop blisters
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-72 hours
- Stay out of pools, hot tubs, and oceans until fully healed
Does laser tattoo removal leave scars?
Scarring is rare when proper techniques and aftercare are followed. Winter Park Tattoo Removal specializes in "no scar tattoo removal" with board-certified physician supervision. Risk factors include history of keloid scarring, not following aftercare instructions, or picking at blisters.
Can I get tattoo removal if I'm pregnant or breastfeeding?
We recommend waiting until after pregnancy and breastfeeding before starting laser tattoo removal. While there's no proven scientific evidence that laser tattoo removal harms pregnant or breastfeeding women, we prioritize extreme caution and want to ensure your complete safety and peace of mind.
What if I have an old tattoo from the 80s or 90s will it be easier?
Older tattoos often fade faster because the ink has naturally broken down over time through normal sun exposure and body metabolism. Tattoos from the 80s and 90s may require fewer sessions than modern, high-quality tattoos.
What happens if I miss a scheduled treatment session?
Missing a session can slow your progress but won't ruin your results. Try to keep all appointments spaced 6-8 weeks apart for optimal healing and ink elimination. If you need to reschedule, contact us at least 48 hours in advance at (407) 622-2252. We'll work with you to find a new convenient time.
Do you treat cover-up tattoos?
Yes! We successfully remove cover-up tattoos, though they typically require more sessions due to multiple ink layers and varying ink colors. Cover-ups can be more complex, but our 2-Joule laser handles them effectively. During your free consultation, we'll assess the complexity and provide a realistic treatment timeline.
What if I change my mind mid-treatment and want to stop?
You can stop treatment at any time with no penalty. The ink that's been broken down won't come back, but remaining ink will stay visible. We'll provide before/after photos to show your progress. Many clients stop when their tattoo is faded enough to be hidden or ready for a cover-up.
Can young adults or teenagers get tattoo removal?
Most clients are 18+ years old. For minors, we require parental consent and consultation. We assess each young patient's maturity level and ensure they understand the commitment to multiple sessions (6-12+) before beginning treatment. Parents must be present for the initial consultation.
Do you offer home visits or mobile tattoo removal services?
